A Lazy Day

Hello Fellow Members of Motherhood,

Well today has been more of a lazy day.  I got up late but just in time to see my son off.  Hubby took him to the bus stop up the street.  I did clean window treatments today which is on my list of 17 items to do while my son is at school.  Unfortunately it wasn't one of the fun things like scrap booking, learning guitar, or crochet and knitting.
But I have clean window treatments.. ha ha  Oh I did do wash too.  I also walked/light jogged on the treadmill while doing walking lunges off and on.  Yeah.
Well I'm off to pick up my son from the bus stop now.

OOPS I FORGOT

Hey Friends,

I forgot to tell you the best news so far of today!!  While the man was fixing the AC he found out that our ROOF has a major leak!!  ugh  So if any of you know of anyone who can fix leaks in roofs let me know.  We need someone good who won't rip us off.
I am hoping there isn't any mold damage, we don't know how long it has been leaking either.  Ugh
Oh well everything happens for a reason.  My hubby has to get a job soon so we can afford to fix up the house.  We have another leak near the kitchen sink through a window.  Plus we need new floors.
Someday soon is what I say!!
Goodbye for today friends and I'll catch you tomorrow...

Tornados

Hello Friends,

Well we finally have AC!! Yeah the man fixed it this morning.  I went to my son's school for a new parent orientation called Tissues and Tea.  It was nice.  I signed up to be a ROOM MOM!!  So I had my first meeting for that afterwards.  I am sure that I don't know what I have gotten myself into.  Ha ha
Our weather is not good today.  It is raining with lots of storms due to TS Lee!  Now we are in tornado warnings for the entire day.  Ugh I hate tornadoes.  I think it is funny what they tell you to do if you see one coming.  Some of it is common sense but some things I think are stupid.
For instance:
  • Stay away from windows (duh.. ha ha  I want to stand in front of one when there is a tornado)
  • Cram yourselves into a room in your house with no windows (well that makes sense)
  • If outside find a ditch and lay down in it (Say What??  No Way)
  • Go to a basement or lowest level in your home (makes sense)
  • Have flashlights (yeah good)
  • If you are in a mobile home you are safer outside than in your home(?)
  • Stay away from trees (duh why would I stand near a tree or even be outside in a tornado?)
  • If you hear a train sound take cover (I'm not sure they sound like trains)
My advice is to not listen to the weather people most of the time.  I keep track of the weather from the weather channel online.  I find it the best and most accurate information...

AC down crochet gift

Hello Everyone,

Well it has been an interesting weekend so far.  Our AC broke yesterday and it was over 90 degrees.  So we were up most of the night extremely hot!!  Tuesday our AC will hopefully be fixed.  Luckily we got some relief going to church today.  We love church.  Our son loves it and so do we.  Do any of you go to church?  It makes me feel closer to God.  It never did before but now it does.  Plus I pray for other people and love to help other people then I don't think about my own problems.  And it is fun for me.
It is a hard lesson to teach your kids.  How to care about other people and their feelings.  Even other kids toys.  Ha ha  Our son is rough on everything.  Kids are extremely demanding and selfish.
I will be taking my son to volunteer this fall and help less fortunate people.  We will help out by collecting cans for food banks.  Visiting elderly in nursing homes.  Visiting sick kids in hospitals, donating toys and clothes to the less fortunate families and kids.  I think the only way to teach him is to show him.  Right?  What are your thoughts? Lets discuss it!!

As promised here is a picture of how that hat and those shoes that I crocheted for a baby shower came out.   If you are interested in the patterns I can email you the websites where I got them. Just drop me a note.
Well I am planning on taking a much needed nap since it is too hot to move away from my fan.
Thank you to all of our friends who offered to have us come over for the day.  We love you all.
Talk to you soon

As Promised

Hello everyone,
Well after I walked up to the bus stop to pick up my little man and sit on the ground waiting in the 90 something degree heat sweating.....  The bus finally came....  My little man got off the bus and wanted to play at a friend's house.  Didn't even want to talk to me and tell me about his day.  Ugh
After he came in the house for bath and dinner time he told us what a great day he had at school.  He got to visit the school's library, and media room today.  He also told me that he actually took a nap today.  That is extremely rare for our child.  He hates to sleep.
I can tell you that he has been asleep tonight since 8 pm and has not woken up yet.  Usually we would be arguing with him every hour to get back to bed.  ha ha
I have to get to bed have to work tomorrow morning.  Coffee is set, my son's lunch is made and  I am exhausted today.

Goodnight everyone,
Beth

Happy Friday

Hello,

Happy Friday to everyone!!  I hope everyone is doing well this evening and had a great day.  Any new topics that you want to discuss?  Anyone have any funny stories to share about parenting or school or anything?  We started a chore chart for our son and he gets prizes, (mostly things he likes to eat or do) if he gets 25 stars per week or 35 stars for a better prize, etc.  Well he got to 25 today and wanted to have pizza for dinner so that is what we did.  25 stars means he gets to pick dinner one  night.  35 stars he gets to rent a movie or game from Redbox (they cost a dollar).  If he gets all stars with no x he gets a new lego man toy.
Do any of you have a chore chart?  How do you work it?  What are your rewards?
I'll check back tomorrow to see if anyone responds and what you do.  Its so much fun to talk to friends and share stories don't you think so?

Well friends, I'll check in with you tomorrow.

First Day of Kindergarten

Hello Fellow Motherhood Members and Friends,
I can't believe that I just put my son on the bus for his first day of Kindergarten.  Time does fly so quickly!  Is anyone else going through the same experience right now too?  How are you handling it?  I am more worried about the bus than school.  Ha ha  I have a list of 17 things I want to get done and I am too sad to move.  So I decided to write to you my fellow friends and members.  I will let you all know how his day went.  Below is a picture of our little man (the one with the hoodie on, he wants to be like Justin Bieber to get the girls) getting on the bus for his first day of school.
Oh I forgot to tell you that I signed up for the PTA and to be a room mother.  I also signed up to deliver birthday presents to the teachers.  Basically I go to the office the week of a teachers birthday and pick up a present and then deliver it.  Are any of you doing that too?  Did you get a list of things to volunteer for at your child's school?  What is the craziest thing you can sign up for?  What did you sign up for?
